Trust Him
Former instructor and original college archivist Esther Voelker kept the following poem framed and hung in a prominent location in her humble, steel-building campus home. For those who were smart enough to push past the steely outer layer of her personality, a wonderful discovery awaited them. Her unwavering faith, decisive sense of hope, infectious laughter, fiery personality, and ability to listen to matters of the heart were just a few of the things that prompted Dr. Forrest to ask her to consider joining the faculty and staff of Toccoa Falls College. The following is the context of the poem that has moved many TFC faculty, staff, and students to trust the One, who will never fail them.
-
Trust Him
Trust Him when dark doubts assail thee;
Trust Him when thy strength is small.
Trust Him when, to simply trust Him
Seems the hardest thing of all.
Trust Him, He is ever faithful.
Trust Him, for His will is best.
Trust Him, for the heart of Jesus
Is the only place of rest.
Trust Him then through cloud and sunshine;
All thy cares upon Him cast,
‘Til the storms of life are over
And the trusting days are past.
